I found The Houseplant Coach podcast while desperately trying to figure out why I keep killing every plant I've owned. Veronica gets down to the science behind plants and why they do what they do. Her podcast helped me to start keeping things alive.
Next steps? I saved up and bought A LOT of dirt. My first order had cacti mix, begonia (heavenly fluff) mix, and a bunch of V's Mix. MY PLANTS ARE THRIVING.
With my new knowledge and amazing soil I started taking steps toward a dream I've always had. Starting a community based prop shop, The Root House. Now I buy Veronica's soil mixing kit/ amend kit and plant everything in it. I use "Bug Shit" to boost my planty immune system and leaf health. This "Shit" really works!!! My mama plants look amazing and my babies are something to truly be proud of. Veronica even sent me some extra mustard seed to help with fungus gnats (NOT FROM HER SOIL), it did the trick- I am gnat free and much more cautious when bringing things home from the box stores.
I highly recommend Oh Happy Dirt, (Vs mix is my Favorite when I'm not buying in bulk). I highly recommend The Houseplant Coach. I highly recommend this company all-around. :)
I love this product. It's a narrow, kind of skinny pole. That may turn some off. I love that it doesn't take up half of the pots space, however. It holds water better than the usual plastic and moss poles. Doesn't dry out as fast, and my plants are sending their roots into them. They don't care that they're skinny.
I've never had luck growing cucumbers. This year, all three of the plants I'd started were struggling. I consulted Oh Happy Plants, bought the habitat mix, and blended it in as instructed. They went from grey and sickly to green and blooming!

The pole is a bit skinnier than I was expecting, however my plant seemed to snuggle right up to it. It's sturdy, holds is water well, and my plant seems to love it. Plants happy, mama planter (human or otherwise), is happy.

This dirt is amazing. My monstera was DESPERATE for a repot (its roots were 3 inches above the dirt). I repotted last week and the new leaf that it had been working on for a month opened up yesterday. And she is HAPPY!
I repotted my xanthosoma and calathea LAST WEEK in V’s mix. They each have a new leaf coming out already. I will be ordering more and repotting them all into it. I can’t even stand how crazy it is!!
In a world of plastic everything you are a Mecca of natural materials thank you! We love the potting canvas. It's natural, and easy to clean and won't be around polluting the earth in thousands of years ha. I also really loved the adorable little wooden lady bug stickers!!! Such a cool and unique touch
